TAS provides information, advice and, in some cases, legal representation to all tenants in the Northwest Territories, including those who rent privately, in public apartments, caravan parks, boarding houses and shared apartments with: This service offers free initial legal advice sessions held weekly in the following locations: Darwin, Casuarina and Palmerston. Please call for information on meeting locations and times. You can attend these free sessions more than once. They can offer advice on common legal issues with a few exceptions, so you should contact them first to check this. Sessions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. You can talk confidentially about your legal issue with a lawyer who can advise you and suggest measures. They can also help you write a letter or prepare other simple documents. Darwin Community Legal Service (DCLS) provides legal assistance, advocacy and support, and is a free and confidential service that helps community members protect their legal rights. Through equitable access to legal advice and support, we are committed to addressing issues of injustice and disadvantage. Our service is independent and we want to be fearless. Free legal advice sessions are held three times a week in Darwin, Casuarina and Palmerston. The sessions also take place in other high-end venues such as Katherine.
